Howell Orthodontics

I can officially say that I have an extern site now. I had an interview today at Howell Orthodontics and it went extremely well, obviously. I start tomorrow morning at 8:00. I'm going to have to get used to having a different (earlier) schedule. I am so excited that the interview process is over and I can get a move on with completing my 270 hours of externing. Howell Ortho. is close to the interstate right off the Meridian Rd. exit (first light you hit turning left from the off ramp). It is an absolutely beautiful office and the people who work there are so nice. I'm going to be a real working lady now with real hours :) How exhausting! It'll be a positive adjustment though.

More calls

I got two more calls today from possible extern sites. Yeah! One from a regular dentist office (a female dentist, I'm pretty sure, it was hard to hear the name on the message) and also an orthodontic office that said they were looking for an extern ASAP. I won't hear anything from them until Monday though since it's Friday. The possibilities are rolling in though which I'm so excited about.

Working Interview

I had my working interview this morning at Bridgetower Orthodontics. It was from 8:00 to noon and it went really well from what I heard. There was another extern that was going to be interviewed today as well though and they are closed tomorrow so I won't know anything until Monday. The scheduling of this particular site worries me a bit because they are pretty lenient on when they work. This orthodontist has two other orthodontic sites located in Emmett and Sun Valley so he travels to them regularly meaning that they may either be closed on some days or only have half days of work. I'm wanting to get as many extern hours down as quick as possible to get a job ASAP. So I will continue to look around at other dental sites and if I do get this particular site then maybe I can work into my schedule another site from a different dental specialty.

Good News!!!

I sent my resume to the oral surgeon's office today. Haven't heard anything yet BUT I got a call today from Bridgetower Orthodontics saying they need an extern. I now have a working interview tomorrow morning from 8 to noon so they can see how well I work with everyone else in the office. My nerves are getting the best of me now. What a nerve-racking way to interview someone. On the bright side of things, if this works out, I will have the interview process and also the first working day in the office done instead of being completely nervous for both of them at different times. Keep me in your thoughts and prayers.

Update on extern site

Well sad news, Stone Creek Dental already has an extern that they have taken on. I went to school today to get any kind of update from Dr. Reff about any new sites that want externs but he didn't sound too promising at this time. Eager me, though, I went to talk to my former teacher because there was a rumor spreading around that an extern went to a site and didn't get hired on because she smokes and she smelled pretty bad of it during her interview (why someone would be stupid enough to do that is beyond me). My teacher gave me a name of an oral surgeon in Merdian (Dr. Leseberg)who is eager to find an extern from our school and hasn't had much luck as of lately. I asked Dr. Reff if it was okay for me to go there and give them my resume myself and he gave me the go ahead. I called their office to confirm this and it was true. Sadly when I got there they were already closed. They apparently close at four o'clock. So first thing tomorrow I'll be going down there to drop off my resume and I'm hoping that this will work out.

My teacher is a lifesaver too, not only did she tell me about this (she's not really allowed to do that) but she has given career services in the school my name to spread around to other dental specialties who need an extern. She's the best teacher EVER (except for Marika, of course :)
She seems to be doing more work in helping me than Dr. Reff, the director of the dental assisting program.

Stone Creek Dental

I'm hoping that tomorrow (Tuesday)I will receive my call back from Stone Creek Dental. If they don't call me by the afternoon I will be calling them though. I just really want to get things rolling on my externing hours so I can get a job ASAP. Not to mention I'm not really looking forward to just sitting around all week without a job or classes to go to. Keep me in your thoughts, the next few days could be big for me. At least I'm hoping.

Site call back

Great news! Got a call back from a possible extern site. Stone Creek Dental called me today, during class though. They didn't leave a message which I was surprised about. The only reason why I called the number back was because I didn't recognize it and I am expecting a call from some kind of dental specialty. I was only able to call them right after five though so they were closed already and I just left a message for them. It completely made my day though. I have been getting really nervous about getting a site for externing and now the possibilities are coming. I even asked my teacher what exactly I should do come Monday and I don't have any site to go to. She told me to be patient because when they do call they usually schedule an interview for the very next day to get things rolling. So hopefully by Monday I will be able to have everything set up and going smoothly.

I've looked up some information about Stone Creek Dental and I found out that they are located off Eagle road in Meridian. They are a general dental practice from what I could tell too, although looking online about them I couldn't find much information. I was really hoping for an orthodontic site and for it to be located in Boise but with the current time crunch I'm on, I could care less now. I have only one more school day left until I have no more classes I need to attend. I have to study for my very last class final tonight. I'm pretty nervous though thinking about the next week to come. I would appreciate prayers for me in dealing with the next week.
